Through her website, she met Lex. And they fell in love. And this weekend they are getting married.
Last Saturday, they got a marching band together and marched through Red Hook with their friends and readers of their web site. Thats the kind of love I want. So powerful that you want to share your happiness with everyone. Plus a marching band.

Kathleen Norris: Acedia & Me: A Marriage, Monks, and a Writer's Life
It seems like whenever I need something...Kathleen Norris puts out a book that totally taps into the issues I am struggling with. Acedia is more than boredom or slothfulness...it's a state of mind often suffered by monks in the desert...it is the abscence or loss of care but in a deep way that haunts you. I totally know of what she speaks and this book helped to lift my spirit. (*****)
Ann Packer: Songs Without Words (Vintage Contemporaries)
I loved The Dive from Clausen's Pier...and the beginning of this novel really brought me in...however halfway thru...I grew bored. The estrangement of the women didn't really seem realistic to me. Packer is a beautiful writer...but I felt like I'd read this book before and it didn't really work for me. (**)
Haven Kimmel: The Used World: A Novel
I'm about to give Haven Kimmel the best comparision ever...this book reminds me of an Anne Tyler novel while not being an Anne Tyler novel. She paints amazing portraits of the women in this novel...and I just loved it. (****)
Christopher Paolini: Brisingr (Inheritance, Book 3)
I enjoyed this...however I skimmed a lot of it because I felt a lot of the book was going over the same old area. And when I found out at the end there is a Book Four! I felt gypped! (***)
Barbara Kingsolver: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life
